Digital Wedding Invitation · The Red Thread

The Japanese legend of the red thread that ties together two people destined to meet, in sumi-e ink on washi paper. The only color is the thread.

How it feels

• The opening: two red threads cross a mountain and a river that paint themselves and tie a knot at the center with a koto note.
• As they scroll, the thread runs down the invitation linking an ink drawing in each section.
• Moving the phone sways the thread, and touching it makes it vibrate like a string.
• When they RSVP, guests tie their thread to yours with a little bell.
• At the end one thread reaches the knot for every family that replied.
